Official Certificates and Exam Alignment: GitOps (EN)

Positioning

GitOps has a concrete official cloud-native certification: GitOps Certified Associate (CGOA) through CNCF and Linux Foundation Training. The exam covers GitOps terminology, GitOps principles, related practices, GitOps patterns and tooling. Prices, validity, language, retake rules and registration paths can change and must be checked on official pages before booking.

Important for this workshop:

  • OpenGitOps principles are the conceptual foundation.
  • CGOA is vendor-neutral and covers Argo CD, Flux and alternative reconciliation engines among other topics.
  • This workshop develops practical competence: desired state, reconciliation, drift, repository design, promotion, security and troubleshooting.
01 / 07

Competency Mapping

CGOA Domain Workshop Area Evidence in This Repo
GitOps Terminology Fundamentals Workshop 01, Exercises 01, Examples 00-04
GitOps Principles Fundamentals Docs Concepts, Docs Architecture, Examples 01-05
Related Practices Intermediate CI/CD boundaries, IaC/CaC, promotion, Examples 10-16
GitOps Patterns Professional Multi-cluster, multi-tenancy, progressive delivery, Examples 20-28
Tooling Intermediate to Advanced Argo CD, Flux, Kustomize, Helm, policy, secrets, Examples 05-30
02 / 07

Preparation

  1. Check the current CGOA page at CNCF or Linux Foundation Training.
  2. Compare the official domains with the workshop levels.
  3. Practice OpenGitOps principles in a tool-neutral way and position Argo CD and Flux as implementations.
  4. Build local manifest and Git labs so reconciliation, drift and rollback become practical.
  5. Use this workshop's assessments as internal readiness checks, not as a replacement for official provider material.
