Data processed for technical delivery

To deliver a website, your device transmits information including its IP address, request time and the requested resource. An IP address can be personal data even without a plain-text name. The public Orthevs site does not connect this information to a name, user account or analytics identifier.

The public ingress keeps no separate access log. The website instead stores access events in the protected Orthevs Insights system, normally for 90 days. Records contain the IP address, UTC time, HTTP method, path without query parameters, status, response duration, referrer host, user agent and, where locally available, an approximate geographic assignment. On a first visit, this local country assignment selects German for Germany, Greek for Greece and English for every other country; an explicit language choice takes precedence. Only authorised Insights accounts can access the data, and they are not sent to external analytics or geolocation services.

When you use the contact form, your name (optional), email address, subject and message are transmitted by email so the request can be handled. To prevent abuse, a one-way verification value is derived from the IP address and stored for the 60-minute sending limit; it is deleted on the next page request after that. The plain-text IP address is not stored for this purpose in the CMS database. To prevent abuse and to assess the request, technical origin data is also attached to the email: IP address, the country, region and city derived from it locally, the network operator, browser identifier (user agent), language setting, referring page and the time of the request. The location is determined on our own server without external services. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in handling requests securely (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Cookies and local storage

No marketing or analytics cookies are used. The website uses only the following first-party functions:

orthevs_language

stores an explicitly selected language for twelve months; SameSite=Lax, Secure over HTTPS and inaccessible to JavaScript.

orthevs_privacy_preferences

stores only the value “essential” or “pwa” for 180 days; SameSite=Lax and Secure over HTTPS.

Web app cache

is created only after explicit activation and stores public pages, styles and graphics for offline use. You can withdraw this choice at any time.

Web app learning progress (orthevs.academy.progress.v1)

after the web app option is enabled, stores voluntary marks for read chapters and articles and completed practice modules. The app uses them to calculate document and workshop progress and read status. These data stay in browser storage on this device, are not sent to Orthevs or synced across devices, and remain until you withdraw or clear the browser data. You can also reset a document, a whole workshop or all reading marks.

Why Orthevs is available as a PWA

The Progressive Web App (PWA) combines the public website with features commonly associated with installed applications. It is delivered from the same web application, requires no separate app store and can – where supported by the browser and operating system – be installed directly and launched in its own window.

Direct access

The installed website can be opened from its own icon and feels like a standalone application in everyday use.

Shared content

The website and PWA show the same public content. The web app is installable wherever the browser and device support it.

More resilient connectivity

Cached public content can load faster on repeat visits and remains partly available when the connection is unstable or temporarily unavailable.

Optional and controllable

The service worker and its browser cache are set up only after explicit activation. Orthevs removes both when the choice is withdrawn.

Offline operation: today and the target state

After explicit activation, Orthevs stores the public application shell, central overview pages, styles, graphics and visited public pages in the browser cache. Previously cached content therefore remains available without a connection. The PWA will be expanded step by step into a coherent, navigable offline version of the public website. Content that requires current server data will remain online-dependent and is intended to be identified as such.

Purposes and legal bases

Processing serves secure delivery, error analysis, abuse detection and aggregate reach measurement on the basis of legitimate interests. Access statistics use no cross-device identifier and create no personal interest profiles. Optional web app and offline storage are activated only with your consent.

No monetisation of usage data

Orthevs does not disclose data to advertising networks, tracking providers or data brokers. Processing within technically required hosting and network infrastructure occurs only where necessary for delivery and security.

Privacy enquiries

The public website maintains no public accounts or personal interest profiles. Privacy enquiries may relate to technically attributable access data in the Insights system. You can delete learning progress stored on your device through Privacy settings.
