Example Documentation: Ingress TLS Dummy

Goal

Trace Ingress TLS with a self-signed test certificate and TLS Secret.

01 / 05

What Is Done

The lab creates a TLS Secret, a web Deployment, a Service and an Ingress with spec.tls for tls.local.test.

02 / 05

Typical Commands

bash
kubectl apply -f manifests/
kubectl get secret tls-local-test -n ingress-tls-lab
kubectl get ingress tls-web -n ingress-tls-lab
kubectl describe ingress tls-web -n ingress-tls-lab
03 / 05

Validate Success

  • The Secret has type kubernetes.io/tls.
  • The Ingress references tls-local-test.
  • Hostname and TLS host match.
04 / 05

Common Mistakes

  • Dummy certificates are confused with real certificates.
  • Local name resolution for tls.local.test is missing.
  • No Ingress Controller is installed.
