Example Documentation: Multi Container Pod

Goal

Understand Pod boundaries using two containers with a shared network namespace.

01 / 05

What Is Done

One web container serves NGINX. A helper container in the same Pod checks the web container through 127.0.0.1.

02 / 05

Typical Commands

bash
kubectl apply -f manifests/
kubectl logs -n multi-lab pod/multi-container-demo -c helper --tail=20
kubectl port-forward -n multi-lab pod/multi-container-demo 8080:8080
03 / 05

Validate Success

  • Both containers run in the Pod.
  • The helper reaches the web container through localhost.
  • Port forwarding to the Pod shows the web content.
04 / 05

Common Mistakes

  • Containers are incorrectly treated as separate hosts.
  • Shared networking is confused with a shared filesystem.
  • A container crash affects the whole Pod lifecycle.

The sequence remains unchanged: from the lab skeleton through technical foundations and operating models to final troubleshooting. The technical directory names are deliberately preserved.
